Massive Swarm of Moths Take Up Residence in Small Town in France

Lepidopterists everywhere, you'll want to pay attention to this story. A small town in France that's been inundated by a swarm of boxwood moths is the ideal destination for your next vacation!

Video recorded by Gaelle Lecompte in the small town of Oynnax (which is located in the Ain department of eastern France), shows an incredible swarm of thousands of moths sticking to a window and flying around a streetlight.

Lecompte said he and his partner were returning home to the village late at night when they saw the amazing swarm of insects. He said, "The moths are particularly concentrated in our village - especially at night because of these streetlights."

The Boxwood moth is native to Asia, but has made its way to Europe in recent years. The moth was first discovered in France in 2008.
